Efforts to control the spread of coronavirus through international travel restrictions have impacted on our ability to plan with certainty the upcoming AVOCO Grower Conference, originally scheduled for July 2020.
Regrettably, we have made the decision early to postpone the event until 2021.
Although the risk of infection from coronavirus (COVID-19) in New Zealand is currently low, the level of caution adopted around international travel makes it difficult to confirm international speakers and visitors, some of whom have already expressed their employers’ desire to restrict their travel movements.
We are also mindful of the event being held mid-winter and a large gathering of more than 250 people may be considered unwise. For these reasons, we feel postponement is the prudent decision to make.
In the meantime, our Technical team will remain connected with experts in the field of avocado research to ensure they stay up to date with the latest global trends and scientific insights.
